Who these terms are with

Trufend is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS], New Zealand ("we", "us"). Using this site, running a check or using one of the free tools means you accept these terms. If you do not, please do not use the site.

What the service is

Trufend runs a passive external check on a domain you name and returns a report covering ten security checks and thirteen SEO checks, together with a grade for each side. It reads public pages, public DNS records and public certificate information. It does not log in, submit forms, send payloads, exploit anything, or attempt to change what it finds.

What a report is not

A Trufend report is not a certification and not an audit. It is not SOC 2, ISO 27001, or any other attestation, and it must not be presented to a customer, an auditor or a regulator as though it were. It is not legal, security or professional advice.

A report covers only what is visible from outside your systems, which is a small part of what security readiness actually involves. The site says so throughout, because it is the single most important thing to understand about the service.

Checks can be wrong. A scan can be blocked, rate-limited, served a different page than your visitors see, or read a temporary state as a permanent one. Verify anything that matters before acting on it.

Using the scanner

The information a check reads is already public, so you may check any domain. In doing so you agree that you will not:

• use the scanner to disrupt, overload, probe for weaknesses in, or gain access to any system;
• work around the rate limits, or automate the service without asking us first;
• use it to harass anybody, or in breach of any law that applies to you where you are;
• present a report as something it is not, as described above.

Checks are limited to five per ten minutes per address, and a report for the same domain is reused for an hour. We may decline or withdraw access to the service if it is being used in a way that harms someone.

The free tools

The tools on this site run entirely in your browser. Whatever you type stays on your device, and we never receive it. You keep everything you create with them, and you may use their output however you like, including commercially. They come with no guarantee of correctness either; a generated policy or plan is a starting point for someone who understands it, not a substitute for that person.

Availability and warranties

The service is free and provided as it is. We do not promise it will be available, uninterrupted, or free of errors, and we may change or withdraw any part of it.

To the extent the law allows, we exclude all warranties and conditions that are not set out here. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or Fair Trading Act 1986 that cannot be excluded. If you are using Trufend for the purposes of a business, you agree that the Consumer Guarantees Act does not apply, as section 43 of that Act permits.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from your use of this site or anything in a report. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to [LIABILITY CAP, FOR EXAMPLE NZ$100], which reflects that the service is provided free of charge.

The writing, reports, design and code on this site belong to us, except where stated. You may quote or share an article with attribution and a link. IBM Plex, the typeface used here, is licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, a copy of which travels with the font files.

Where we link to another site or name a provider in a guide, we are not endorsing them and we are not responsible for what they do.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed, and continuing to use the site after that means accepting the new version.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of New Zealand, and the New Zealand courts have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you use the site as a consumer somewhere else, you keep the protections of the law where you live that cannot be contracted out of.
